Frequently Asked Questions
Have a question before your first visit? You’re in the right place. If you don’t find what you’re looking for here, reach out directly, we’re happy to help.
Before Your Session
Where does the session take place?
All sessions at B Transformed take place in one of three private suites — the Oasis, Grotto, or Sanctuary. Each is quiet, warm, and designed specifically for therapeutic work. You’ll find soft lighting, comfortable table setups, and an environment that’s built around your comfort.
Do I need to undress completely?
That’s entirely up to you. Most massage techniques work best with direct skin contact, but you should undress only to your level of comfort. You’ll be properly draped throughout the entire session — only the area being worked on will be uncovered at any time.
Will the practitioner leave the room while I disrobe?
Yes. The practitioner will always step out while you undress, get onto the table, and cover yourself with the provided sheet. Privacy and comfort are non-negotiable here.
What should I do to prepare for my session?
Arrive a few minutes early if it’s your first visit so you have time to settle in and complete any intake paperwork. Avoid eating a heavy meal right before your session, stay hydrated, and if you have specific areas of concern or any medical conditions, make note of them, the practitioner will ask before you start.
Are there medical conditions that would make massage inadvisable?
Yes, and that’s exactly why intake paperwork matters. Before every session, you’ll be asked about your health history and any current conditions or medications. If you’re under a doctor’s care for a specific condition, a written recommendation for massage therapy is strongly advised. When in doubt, reach out before booking and we can talk it through.
During Your Session
What will the massage feel like?
That depends entirely on which service you’ve chosen and what your body needs. A session focused on relaxation will typically begin with broader, flowing strokes to calm the nervous system before working into specific areas of tension. A more therapeutic session may involve deeper, more targeted pressure. Either way, communication matters — if anything feels uncomfortable, say so immediately. Massage works best when your body isn’t bracing against it.
Will sessions be silent?
Generally, yes. To support the healing environment for everyone in the studio, sessions at B Transformed are kept quiet. Intake conversations and post-session check-ins happen at a lower volume, and during the session itself Brian focuses on the work rather than conversation. If you have questions or need to communicate something mid-session, always feel free — that’s different from small talk.
What parts of my body will be worked on?
A typical full-body session covers the back, arms, legs, feet, hands, head, neck, and shoulders. For more focused or therapeutic sessions, work is concentrated on specific areas based on your intake and goals. You’re always in control of what gets attention and what doesn’t.
How will I feel during a deeper pressure session?
Deep tissue and therapeutic work can feel intense in the moment, especially in areas of chronic tension. It should feel like productive pressure — noticeable, maybe even a little uncomfortable, but never sharp or unbearable. Always communicate if something doesn’t feel right. The goal is never pain for its own sake.
After Your Session
How will I feel afterward? Most people feel deeply relaxed immediately following a session. Some experience a temporary heaviness or mild soreness, especially after deeper work — this is normal and typically resolves within a day or two. Drink plenty of water after your session. Many clients notice increased energy, clearer thinking, and reduced pain that can last for several days.
How often should I come in? It depends on your goals. For general stress relief and maintenance, monthly sessions work well for many people. For chronic tension, pain management, or injury recovery, more frequent sessions — weekly or every two weeks — tend to produce better results in the early stages. Brian will usually share a recommendation after your first session based on what he observes.
Booking, Payments, & Policies
How do I book a session?
All sessions are by appointment only. You can book online through the booking portal anytime, or reach out by phone or text to schedule directly. For shorter 30 and 60-minute sessions, contact the studio directly rather than booking online.
Do you accept HSA or FSA payments?
Yes. B Transformed accepts HSA and FSA cards alongside cash, credit, debit, and personal checks. If you’re planning to use health savings funds, a prescription letter from your medical provider may be required depending on your plan. Full details are on the HSA & FSA payments page.
What is your cancellation policy?
Please provide at least 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Cancellations within that window are subject to a 50% session fee. No-shows are charged the full session fee. Genuine emergencies are always handled with understanding — just reach out directly.
What if I arrive late?
If you arrive late, your session time may be shortened to avoid affecting other clients. The full session fee still applies regardless of how much time remains. Planning to arrive a few minutes early is always the better move, especially for a first visit.
Do you offer gift certificates?
Yes, gift certificates are available for purchase. Learn more here.
Do you have a referral program? Yes. Refer five clients who each complete a 60 or 90-minute session and you’ll receive $30 off your next visit. Full details here.
Can I purchase Scentshaper products at the studio? Yes. Brian’s essential oil blends from Scentshaper are available for purchase in-studio. Ask about current blends at your appointment or visit scentshaper.com to explore the full collection.
